Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson has confirmed that the show has wrapped its final episode and that its sixth and final season will consist of ten episodes — eight fewer than the fifth. Of course, fans know that Lucifer was canceled after its fifth season by Netflix, but the existing seasons have performed so well that the streamer changed its mind and ordered the additional season, so hopefully, fans can view these ten episodes as the icing on the cake. Ten also matches the number of episodes of S4, the first to be released exclusively through Netflix, after being canceled by FOX.

Also, keep in mind, the second half of S5 hasn’t even dropped yet. Those eight episodes will become available on May 28. The first half premiered on August 21, 2020.
Henderson teased that S5B and S6 will be very different. (via wordballoon):
“I love them both in different ways. Season 5B is big and epic. Season 6 is sweet and personal. I don’t even know how to compare them. They’re so wildly different, and yet, so very much of a whole. They’re very much part of a story going on.”
In another hint at things to come, D.B. Woodside, who plays Amenadiel stated (via TVLine):
“When God (played by Dennis Haysbert) comes, a lot of chaos is going to follow. We pick up literally two seconds from where we ended, and Amenadiel is absolutely humiliated that God saw him behaving the way that he was with his brothers because as the oldest, he’s really supposed to be the one that sets the example — and he was not doing that!”
Woodside also makes his directorial debut with the upcoming episodes.
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, the literal devil, who leaves Hell and acts as an investigator alongside the LAPD. Lauren German portrays his love interest homicide detective Chloe Decker. That cast also includes Kevin Alejandro, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, and Aimee Garcia.
