‘Superman & Lois’ Heads For Hiatus To Be Replaced By The First Half Of ‘Supergirl’s Final Season

The Super Cousins are playing a relay race on The CW. The network’s newest superhero hit, Superman & Lois, will go on a hiatus after the fifth episode of its first season. This is partially to accommodate a COVID-related shutdown that occurred during the show’s production last summer.

In its place, Supergirl will return for the first half of its sixth and final season. That will occur on Tuesday, March 30.  Superman & Lois will be back on Tuesday, May 18, at 9 pm and will air the remainder of its first season over the ensuing weeks. Obviously, Supergirl will then go on a hiatus and will be back to finish out its last season this summer at an undisclosed point.

There are 17 episodes of Superman & Lois Season 1 total. The first episode aired on February 23, and The CW announced that the freshman series had been renewed for a second season before the second episode had even aired. Tyler Hoechlin stars as the Man of Steel and Elizabeth Tulloch plays his wife, the “World’s Most Famous Reporter.” The series also focuses on their twin teenage sons, Jordan (Alex Garfin) and Jonathan (Jordan Elsass).

The cast also includes Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Adam Rayner, Dylan Walsh, and Wolé Parks.

It was announced last September that the upcoming season would be the last for Supergirl, which originally debuted on CBS in 2015 before switching over to The CW the following season. The sixth season will consist of 20 episodes. No information has been revealed regarding upcoming plotlines or characters.

At the time of this announcement, star Melissa Benoist shared the following message on Instagram:

Supergirl also stars Chyler Leigh, Katie McGrath, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines, Azie Tesfai, Andrea Brooks, Julie Gonzalo, Staz Nair, and David Harewood.

Are you impressed with Superman & Lois so far?  Are you upset that it is going on hiatus so soon?

Or are you a Supergirl fan?  Are you excited that it is coming back, or are you sad that this is the last flight for this series?
