Zack Snyder Wants To Make A ‘Daredevil’ Movie For Marvel

After spending the better part of the last decade launching the DC Extended Universe films for Warner Bros., could director Zack Snyder be heading to Disney and Marvel?

The man behind films like Man Of Steel and Sucker Punch says he would be interested in directing a movie based on “The Man Without Fear,” Marvel’s blind lawyer superhero Daredevil.

In a recent interview on ComicBook Debate, Snyder was asked what he would do if he was ever offered the chance to do a film with Marvel. The director responded quite quickly with his pitch for a new movie about the street-level vigilante Daredevil, saying he would love to tackle one particular Daredevil story from Frank Miller’s iconic run on the character:

I would choose Elektra Lives Again. Daredevil is having these dreams about Elektra coming back to life, and it’s really cool and weird…It’s just cool, and beautiful. That’s what I would do. No one cares, but that’s what I would do.

Snyder has certainly earned his stripes with comic book adaptations, having films like 300, The Watchmen, and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice under his belt in addition to his upcoming Snyder Cut of Justice League for HBO Max.

The highly anticipated Justice League: The Snyder Cut will premiere as a four-part event series on the HBO Max streaming service in March 2021, but what is next for Snyder once it is finally released? He recently told ComicBook Debate that he expected this project to be his final film for the DC Universe, saying:

I never thought I’d be here doing this. I didn’t think I’d be finishing Justice League. The truth is, and it’s been widely reported, and I have no issue, this is an old movie. This is a years-old movie I’m working on.

The DC universe has gone and branched off and done its own thing and that’s fine. As far as what I did and as far as what my vision for what I wanted to do with these characters and the journey I wanted them to go on, it’s well known that I planned on more movies, five movies or something, but I’m busy. I’ve got a lot going on.

Is it cool that the fans have so much faith in the trajectory? Yes, it’s amazing, and I couldn’t be happier and I’m excited for them to see Justice League so they can really drink the entire elixir of Justice League. But, would I continue? I have no plan to. But like I said, I didn’t think I’d be here, so who knows?

So if he is done with the DC Universe, what does the future hold for Snyder? Could a trip to the Marvel Cinematic Universe be on the horizon? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, the film rights for the Daredevil character recently fell back into Marvel’s hands, so we could potentially see the character appearing again sooner rather than later (and maybe very soon if those Spider-Man rumors are true)!
